hubby's friends

did i tell you, my hubby HAPPENS to have friends for neighbours at our new place.
Not 1, not 2, not 4, but THREE friends so far.

first there's yousri.
ok lah.. he was the one who recommended us to get a unit here.

then.. we found his other friend while we were here to check on the house. Hubby was going to go for soccer after that. Then he saw his friend, hilmy, whom he was going to play soccer with that day - and found out he's staying there too! great.

then.. on another day, he found out that one of his golf buddies, I forgot the name, has a unit here too! double great.

Anyhow, something somewhat-embarrasing-but-i-can-live-with, happened.

We found out hilmy's son goes to the same school as nadhrah, whom i have to send every morning, because the school bus cannot fetch her anymore.

hilmy came to the house the other night. I was in my room, when my hubby calls me out. he said something like "so what do u think, pagi tumpang pegi skolah (I heard something to that effect). I exclaimed to hilmy, 'REALLY?! oh ok, bagus lah!'

Then hubby had this confused look, and said, 'errm..I mean.. what about letting hilmy's son tumpang kita - we send anak dia to school skali lah.. '

I had assumed the other way. So I had to immediately change my mode/tone from thankful to helpful, and said, " OH! ok! sure, sure. no problem. boleh lah. :) "

paiseh sikit.

for my wife

After almost a whole day being away for golf, he was having dinner with the family.

he : for your info, just now, my friend asked me to play golf tomorrow. he said, 'it's free, you just come and play'. Then I told him no, tomorrow is for my wife.

she : awwhh.. you said that? that's so sweeet.

Pause.

he : well.. actually.... those were not my exact words to him lah..

she : oh? then how did you tell him?

he : i said to him.. 'kau nak mampus?!!'

would you sit by the river with me?

"Would you like to go to raffles place with me, maybe go on the boat ride or just sit by the river and do nothing?", i asked hubby.

"No."

"Ha? Why!?"

"It's not even a river..it's a very big drain."

Okay, so he is PROBABLY, technically, right.
But I still like it - it's a nice big drain.

i love this game, when i was 18..

one fine night, i came home and find that i was tagged by Ann.

i love this game

why i married the man i married.. oh 10 reasons..
this is difficult.. i don't have that much reasons.. let's see..

1. i fell in love with him.. yup, not match-made.
2. when i met him, he's the nicest man i've ever met.. no comments about others.
3. he prays 5 times a day, masyaAllah.
4. he reads the Quran well, masyaAllah
5. he was a catalyst to my BIG change, alhamdulillah.
6. his family and relatives are lovable, alhamdulillah.
7. oh ya.. he looks so handsome/charming/sexy, on the soccer field, masyaAllah.
8. he.....completes me *cupping my hand*
9. he had me at 'hello'. And I was the one who said 'hello' (yes, aku yg gi kacau dia..)
10. You know, jodoh.. Allah SWT has planned it so. :)

but this tag is good.. makes me think about all the GOOD things about him..

now i want to prey on..
1. dadha
2. minah c
3. zee
4. spidey

********************

And i also remembered the tag, that I owe AM. * when i was 18 *

i went to that site, but - i don't like most of the song. when i was 18, Jon Bon Jovi, Micheal Jackson, were big.

Living on a Prayer... this song, was always played during Tea Dances. (sorry Pak.. dulu memang pernah pergi - DULU..) And we'd all be trying to dance like Micheal Jackson.

Other than that and school, i remember we always hang out at the beach. I love the beach.

but I guess, i didn't know what i was doing. I was wasting my time too much. I was just going with the flow. At that time, i felt like if I don't follow my friends, i'm not cool. And also, it seems like there is nothing else for me to do.

oh ok. i suddenly remember college time.. Mr Madasamy, our teacher - almost like a friend already - kamcheng ho.. playing games, cracking jokes. Out of class, we call him Samy. My friends, siti, linda, karim-liza, rozita, oh and i remember Richard - bomb-52 - i'm quite sure he is some big shot now. and Pang Kee - hero/gangster kat sekolah - I thought he had a crush on me, and he thought i had a crush on him. Kenneth, the photographer. By the way, i was not commonly known as erni in college.. no, not blossom also.

oh, i'm in my room! felt like i was hypnotized or put into a time machine.. haha.
tks marliza - for taking me back. :)

I'm trying to analysie the experiences i've had when i was a teenager, till the time i got married.. Based on that, I hope I can understand my kids, when they become teenagers. If I can break down my thoughts and feelings, when i was doing the things i did, maybe, insyaAllah, i can help my children be a much better teenager than I was. insyaAllah.. Ameen.

the girls bake.
Mdm Bloss have signed her daughters up for Creative Baking Workshop for Children. The daughters, especially Nadhrah, are said to be 'so' looking forward to it. There are plans to further their 'studies' with Cik alin. The dates, however, have not been confirmed.

the boy sails..
Hadi does not hesitate to agree that he likes the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. He will be making plans to watch the latest sequel, with his good friend soon. He is also reported to have invested some amount of money, into making his own sword. Thanks to his grandfather, he has so far made quite a number of his own toys.

At home and in cyberspace, he claims that he is Captain Jack Di Sparrow.

the husband who pleases his wife

Mdm Bloss's spouse has yet again, delighted her yesterday. He brought back 3 pairs of pants, that she has been wanting to get for herself, for the past few months.

Mdm Bloss, herself has failed to look for that specific kind of pants, and at a VERY reasonable price . However it is no surprise because it is believed that she didn't try hard enough. The ones she found were above $50.

Her beloved spouse managed to get them for her at $12.90 and $6.90. Mdm Bloss is wearing them now.

when we are in need

On saturday I had 2 papers to sit for. I managed to cover half of one of the subjects by Friday night. Then on sat morning, i checked the schedule and apparently the subject that I HAVEN't started on, was going to be the first paper. Erni kan memang 'pandai'. So i told myself, i must study dengan tekun.. must concentrate and finish reading. Paper is at 3pm.. ok la tu, i thought.

Study kat rumah, my girls asik tanya itu, ini- normal. So i decided, if I am to cover this subject this morning, i better leave early. So i told hubby, i need to leave now to study. He said OK. But when I'm all ready, dah siap2 nak leave, and hubby pun tengah siap, kena angkat banyak periuk nak hantar kat rumah orang (his mom does catering sikit2). Then, he asked me, "hmm...boleh tolong amik kuih tak?"

I took a deeeeeep breath. While taking that deep breath, I sempat jugak fikir and decide if I shud beleter kat dia and tell him, like 'Look! i already told you i want to STUDY!!! my EXAMS is this AFTERNOON and i HAVE NOT studied!!! You nak suruh i amik kuih?!?!?!' OR.. I should just be a good wife, and say 'OK dear, kat mana?'

I looked at him for a moment.. he had that 'kesian punya' muka. How can I not kesian kan.. I agreed.

So I went and I prayed..'Ya Allah, berkat aku gi tolong my hubby ni, senangkan la sikit nanti i speed read, and enable me to do my paper later.'

Good news is, alhamdulillah, i did manage to read most of it, and I managed to do my paper - macam boleh pass la gitu, although i doubt it will be with flying technicolours.

And it reminds me of this story in one of Al Bukhari's hadith sohih, that I want to share. (i like this story).

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:

I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "Three men from among those who were before you, set out together till they reached a cave at night and entered it. A big rock rolled down the mountain and closed the mouth of the cave. They said (to each other), Nothing could save you from this rock but to invoke Allah by giving referenda to the righteous deed which you have done (for Allah's sake only).' So, one of them said, 'O Allah! I had old parents and I never provided my family (wife, children etc.) with milk before them. One day, by chance I was delayed, and I came late (at night) while they had slept. I milked the sheep for them and took the milk to them, but I found them sleeping. I disliked to provide my family with the milk before them. I waited for them and the bowl of milk was in my hand and I kept on waiting for them to get up till the day dawned. Then they got up and drank the milk. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only, please relieve us from our critical situation caused by this rock.' So, the rock shifted a little but they could not get out."

The Prophet added, "The second man said, 'O Allah! I had a cousin who was the dearest of all people to me and I wanted to have sexual relations with her but she refused. Later she had a hard time in a famine year and she came to me and I gave her one-hundred-and-twenty Dinars on the condition that she would not resist my desire, and she agreed. When I was about to fulfill my desire, she said: It is illegal for you to outrage my chastity except by legitimate marriage. So, I thought it a sin to have sexual intercourse with her and left her though she was the dearest of all the people to me, and also I left the gold I had given her. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only, please relieve us from the present calamity.' So, the rock shifted a little more but still they could not get out from there."

The Prophet added, "Then the third man said, 'O Allah! I employed few laborers and I paid them their wages with the exception of one man who did not take his wages and went away. I invested his wages and I got much property thereby. (Then after some time) he came and said to me: O Allah's slave! Pay me my wages. I said to him: All the camels, cows, sheep and slaves you see, are yours. He said: O Allah's slave! Don't mock at me. I said: I am not mocking at you. So, he took all the herd and drove them away and left nothing. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only, please relieve us from the present suffering.' So, that rock shifted completely and they got out walking.

Sohih Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 36, Number 472

I think, when we do something good, for the sake of Allah, insyaAllah, Allah will help us, when we are in need.

Happy MONday!

p.s. thanks to hafiz who's reminded of this ayat - and now i'd like to add that..

O ye who believe! If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly.

a weekend filled

the weekend, was good.

i'm impressed.
in saturday's class, i was impressed by our tutor's memory and knowledge.
when he quoted a fact about a person, he mentioned where it was found. the book, author, chapter and page, just like that. amazing.. masyaAllah. ustaz hamzah jumaat.

the muslim scholars in the old days were much much more impressive that that. memorizing hundreds and thousands of hadith, word for word, including sanads and can tell immediately if just one word was wrong out of the thousands of hadith.
I'm proud that only in Islam, authencity and accuracy is very much emphasized on, in passing down information from more than a thousand years ago!

****
what went on in the past week or two
in pictures. and it's worth a thousand words.

after x years of marriage...

the nail clipper

It was late afternoon, in the office. I was so busy ke tahap busy giler.
The phone rang.

M : Hello.
H : Hi. I want to tell you something ah..
M : Yes, dear, what?
H : You know ah, Tok Besar.... do you think, he could be a wali?
M : Wali? you mean jadi my wali, time I nikah? Ya lah.. cause he's my father's uncle..
H : No, not that wali. Like.. you know.. wali. Wali Allah.
M : Ha?! Wali Allah? What are you talking about? What do you mean?
H : I mean, he COULD be you know.
M : ??...Ok now, how did you get to THAT?
H : You know masa kat KL, few days before that.. I've been looking for a nail clipper kan? I've been thinking, where to get that nail clipper. Then, when we met him that night, of the 1001 other things he can choose to give me, he gave me a NAIL CLIPPER.
M : ??.......Oooooh...so he could be a WALI because... he gave you a NAIL CLIPPER? .........
(*burst out laughing*)..... Honey!! how did that make him a WALI?!?! wahpiang!
H : heh.. ya lah..I mean I've been looking for that nail clipper for so long you know, and it's like he knew.. and when he gave it to me.. macam it's a relief.. it's something that I wanted quite badly at that time.
M : hmm... ok... he could be..... because he gave you a nail clipper...
H : yeah.
M : So.. you called me at this time, just to tell me that you think Tok Besar is a wali, because he gave you a nail clipper?
H : Yeah... I was getting the nail clipper from the compartment, then I suddenly thought about it and it's quite.. you know.. amazing ah that he gave me something I needed.
M : oook.
H : Ok. so ..that's all I wanted to tell you. Bye.
M : Bye.

************

But kan...he could be, you know - Tok Besar. After all, dia memang wara' plus the fact that all the time we visited him before, he has never given us 'souvenirs' but that night, out of the blue he gave hubby that. Plus we didn't tell Tok Besar we needed a nail clipper.

Of course, another possible explanation would be, that he saw how LONG the fingernails on the children's fingers are.. and couldn't stand it. So he gave hubby and nail clipper. yeah.

Allahu'alam. anyway, may his Iman be strong and may Allah keep him in good health. And to all of us too. Ameen.
